Traffic Signal Crashes

Crashes often involve one roadway user incorrectly interpreting traffic control devices and/or violating the other user’s right-of-way.

Sometimes incorrectly designed, constructed, and/or maintained traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings are the cause of the crash or may be contributing factors. Understanding what is required by national and state requirements, and if a defective control device was in use, is critical in such cases.
